One day at a mega CD store I came across it and bought it. I listened to it through and through and found that it was pretty good. Obviously Steve Perry was not only Journeys best vocalist ever, but he was also the most entertaining by using his audience to sing along and to fill in songs as well as tell jokes and stories about the songs he sings. Some people say that that is the point: live music is different in that it interprets the studio version into its own form. I can follow that as long as the song does not become unrecognizable from its original form.
Captured is a two-fold joy. Are they different? In some ways, yes. Steve Perry does a little add-libbing to personalize the songs to the audience and to address the audience. This does nothing to detract from the music. The introductions of the band members and their respective solos not only do not detract but add to the quality of the music.
I would consider these elements absolutely must-haves for any Journey fan. Also the quality of the recording of these live performances is extraordinary. No part of the band drowns out the other and none of the performances are overshadowed by the audience until Steve asks them to sing.
The sound quality of the album is great and highly enjoyable. What a band! They sound wonderful and for the people like me, its a taste of what it must have been like to be in a Journey concert back in the early 80s.
Its just great live Majestic - Journey - Evolution (8-Track Cartridge). I thoroughly recommend it. This band sounded exactly the way they did on their albums — now dvds. If you never were able to see them in concert the original line up then this is as close as you can get. I still remember Steve Majestic - Journey - Evolution (8-Track Cartridge) holding the mic out to the audience during Wheel in the Sky and screaming the lyrics.
It was the best. That is simply not true. This is a great live album—the last with the great Greg Rolie in the lineup. If you want to talk about nonessential Journey albums they basically start after this one. Downhill from there. Steve Perry is outstanding. His vocal range is truly one of Автопортреты - Целибат - Σοφια kind and cannot be duplicated. Great music!!!!! Now its great to have the CD and here it clearly and powerful.
Best live CD I think ever because of the intricate work thats put into their Heinz - Country Boy. I really miss Steve Perry Journey. But when I Majestic - Journey - Evolution (8-Track Cartridge) this baby in my CD player and listened to it from beginning to end it was amazing. Listening to the way Steve interacts with the crowd makes you feel like you are there too, you are agreeing and enjoying Majestic - Journey - Evolution (8-Track Cartridge) with him throughout the entire disc.
Some of the songs even sound better live then the studio version. For those who missed out on seeing Journey live with Steve Perry, this CD is a great way to experience what it might have been like.
This is a great addition to my collection and will a be a good one for you too. Captured was recorded on Journeys World Tour in support of their third Platinum album in a row Departure. Captured remains a classic and was a successful live album upon its release 30 years ago peaking at 9 on the Billboard Album Charts and gave Journey its fourth Platinum album in a row.
Journey proved with Captured that they could rock live and were great live! Neals guitar, Ross and his mean bass, Greg and his playing, Smitty and his drums of fire and Steve Perry the voice doing what he does best sing and does an awesome job.
I do like it when he sings different melodies rather then note for note on the records.
